The first month of University...

Sorry for the absence guys! I've been away for a good reason.... The start of University! I've been adjusting to life in Dundee, the coolest little city in Scotland, apparently. Moving away has been harder than I thought it would, but I am enjoying myself so far!

For those that don't know, I've moved away to study law, something that has been a passion of mine for years, since the Boston Marathon Bombing case.

The University of Dundee was my first choice university, although it feels so long ago having to wait for an offer. It is in the top ten universities for law in every major league table! I am so happy to be here and I am really enjoying the course content so far.

This semester, I study Foundations of Law, Private Law 1 (essentially contract law), and Public Law 1 (essentially constitutional law) and my favorite seems to be Public Law 1. I am excited, but a little bit apprehensive about my future.

In truth, it was hard adjusting- and I am still struggling. Coming from an island of 23,000 when the total population of students and staff is around 20,000 was a big adjustment, and not knowing everyone around me was strange too.

For my entire secondary school life, I haven't had to introduce myself- everyone will know something about you regardless if you want them to. This made it easy to make friends, strike up conversations about people's interests, and once we passed that glorious age of 18, to go out to the local pubs and clubs, or at least know who you would bump into! This certainly isn't the case at university.

I struggled in freshers week- my family had made the 300 mile trek with me to help me settle in, and for the first few days I balanced my time between hesitantly socialising, and going for food and adventures with my family. But I still had fun- and I definitely met some friends, on my course and not on my course.

I am really enjoying the campus and student support has been excellent. There is a lot of support available if you need it, and the disability services are top class.

Everything going well so far. Let's see how I get on.
